jam

Do any other expats living in Italy make the same mistakes as I do with the word 'preservative'?
In English preservatives are things put in food to keep it fresh, I often mix it with 'preserves' which means jam (or jelly for the Americans).

In Italian preservatives are condoms.

I just told Carlo's mum that I eat condoms on toast for breakfast.

  2. Yup, it's exactly the same problem in French. Préservatifs, tee hee!

  3. P.S. Ms. Mac is just not capable of even thinking something gross. She is a true Fairy Princess and Queen of Blogland.
