Mountain fire

We were woken up at daybreak by the sound of helicopters flying up and down the mountainside. This can only mean one thing. Fire.

A huge fire had started (or been started) above Positano near the Pathway of the Gods. The helicopters have been working all day long at dousing the flames, but a huge area of beautiful mountainside will have been ruined.

Here are the flames last night after the fire started, taken by Massimo. Grazie Massimo per l'uso della foto.

  4. I guess summer isn't summer without a terrible fire. Why does this have to happen every year? It does make me really sad.

  7. How very sad and I so hope it wasn't deliberate.

If there is any consolation to be had and this comes from an area where wildfires are common and huge. A year from now this will have grown back even lusher than it ever was before.

    Still sad though.
