Google Street View

Forgive me if you have discovered this already, but I just found it. Google street view has been to Positano! Now you can virtually walk through the whole town and see 360 degree views from wherever you like!
I had a go yesterday and was amused to see various recognisable locals, frozen in time. And I also caught a glimpse of my doppelganger leaning over the railings at Punta Reginella. It could be me...same clothes, same bum as confirmed by Carlo, same hair...but apparantly when you view her from another angle, her nose is smaller than mine!

It actually even works on this post...click on the arrows and try it, althought it seems to work smoother if you go directly to google street maps.

  1. Ha! I was going to post about this today too! It's fun walking about town like this, only I wanted to go down the stairs to my place and it only went round the road. More time wasted on the computer for playing...

  3. So great! I read there have been many issues however as people are objecting to their photos being posted without permission. I wouldn't mind one bit to be frozen in time!

p.s. cafe positano was the very first restaurant we ate at while in Pos last May. Our flat owner, Chiara, recommended it! I remember being in love and pure astonishment of the views!!!

  7. Yup I spent a great deal of time yesterday walking the streets of Amalfi and Positano... I thought I saw you in one picture at first and as I followed Via Pasitea through town I half expected to see Lila peeking out from one of the shops as she always does. Can't wait to be walking there for real again!

glad i could solve your book problem - it is amazing how many you can get on a shelf just by placing them the other way!
must sit down with a cup of tea soon and take a peek at your lovely looking soap.

  13. Glad to see that more places are being updated with street views. I will have to go back and spend more time dreaming of being in Italy. So do you know any of the people in the Pos street map views?

  14. Isn't the street view so awesome. You can literally travel most of the world now from your computer. Kinda sad cause now you don't actually have to travel the world, but at least great for those who can't afford to.
