What no school?

Skye is missing a few days of school while we're in the UK but has been assigned plenty of schoolwork to do while we're here. On the train up to London today we actually studied a whole chapter of Science sent to us via Whatsapp on my phone.
She also had a couple of pages of ancient Egypt to study for History so I thought it would be a good idea to enhance her studying with a trip to the British museum...
So she could be face to face with some of the Ancient Egyptians...
Of course, like all kids raised on Scooby Doo she was fascinated by the mummies and we spent a looong time 'studying' them up close.
Skye pointed out that his one was a bit scary because if you look at the soles of his feet the bandages are worn out exactly where your socks wear thin after lots of walking...as if he got up at nighttime and roamed the museum...
After we'd had our fill of mummies we walked over to Carnaby Street to see the Christmas decorations...
and so I could stock up on some supplies for work :)
A quick stroll down Oxford Street to see the window displays in Selfridges...
I'll have this one please...
And then we jumped on a bus at Marble Arch which took us to the Natural History Museum which has lots of dinosaurs...
And lots of jewels and precious stones, which she found fascinating and asked a million questions as to how they were made.
We stayed until the museum closed, it was cold and beautiful outside. I love walking round London in the evenings. Not so sure about the rush hour train journey home afterwards, but it's lovely to be here for a while and soak up all that Englishness.
